Please note that before beginning Latin, "....children should be able to read fluently, and write legibly; and they should have some slight acquaintance with the English grammar..." (from The Child's Latin Primer). This is not always true for third graders and it is perfectly acceptable to wait until a later grade to begin Latin instruction.
